Philanthropists for life and beyond

Darlene and Brian Neigum have been loyal supporters of the Medicine Hat Health Foundation since its beginnings 26 years ago. They have gifted the foundation an incredible 119 times over those years!

What makes this wonderful couple unique is their connection to the city of Medicine Hat as well as to the surrounding rural area. They are somewhat retired snowbirds now enjoying winters down south, time in our wonderful city and yet still on some level operating their ranch and farm north near Mendham SK.

They are true ambassadors for the Medicine Hat Health Foundation and strongly believe in the work the foundation does for regional healthcare. Darlene has a background in the non-profit world and understands how important it is that her donation dollars stay 100% local and not be used for national or provincial administration as with some charities. She trusts the foundation and speaks very vocally about the good work that is done here.

Brian and Darlene also have left a gift in their estate for the Health Foundation in the future. They are proud and happy about leaving a legacy gift. They also have been advised by their accountant and financial advisor of the benefits of saving estate taxes by gifting to charity in your will. They believe in this cause and they truly feel it is a win win for their estate plans to include their family but also their chosen charity while saving on estate taxes as well. When speaking with their friends they are surprised that not many know or are aware of these benefits when planning their estate. They would like to urge everyone to speak to their financial advisor when writing their will.

Thank you Neigum’s for your philanthropic viewpoints and sharing your wisdom with your community! The Health Foundation wishes you a wonderful retirement together both here and in sunny Arizona!
