In Memory of Our Friend Murray Green

As employees of the Health Foundation, we get to meet and know spectacular people in our community. Sometimes the hardest part of our job is losing a community member we have gotten to know and love. Such was the case with Murray Green. This wonderful soul was a loyal donor for local healthcare in our community. He had a personality as big as the room and was a joy to visit and get to know. Supporting cancer care and the regional hospital were very important to Murray.

Murray and Elsie had their careers and family in Medicine Hat. Murray was the owner of Green Insurance. In 1984, the couple moved to Vernon where they continued to work and, eventually, they retired and stayed in the beautiful Okanagan. Murray was first diagnosed with cancer 16 years ago, but in 2021 his health was starting to fail, and they moved back to Medicine Hat to be closer to family and to live at The Wellington.

During his last few months Murray was a frequent flier at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH). He truly appreciated all the nursing care and support he received there and made sure we knew how grateful he was.

In this picture, Murray is cheerful upon receiving his prized Health Foundation blanket while in MHRH for multiple issues in the Fall of 2022.

Murray lived a full and long life. He got to celebrate his 65th wedding anniversary with his bride Elsie and all his extended family. Murray Green passed just 11 days short of his 90th birthday.

Rest in peace Murray,
You will be missed by family and friends alike.
