CP donates $23,000 to ICU

Canadian Pacific (CP) has donated $23,000 to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit. This donation facilitated through the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation was given to purchase a “Lifepak 15” – an important piece of life-saving equipment.

CP’s community investment program, CP Has Heart, has helped raise over $23.3 million to improve the heart health of men, women and children across North America. Their priority is saving lives through research and better access to cardiac emergency response equipment and treatment.

Jamie Smithson, CP Trainmaster – Medicine Hat states, “Investing in the communities in which we operate in and through is of vital importance to CP. CP is proud to donate $23,000 to replace the LifePak in the ICU of Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Our hope is that this will continue to ensure the very best care possible for Medicine Hat and area patients.”

With the need for an additional “Lifepak 15” in the ICU, Sarah Beckman, Manager, ICU, was thrilled to be the recipient of this donation. “This life-saving equipment is used to monitor, defibrillate, do pacing and ECG’s. It will be busy helping save lives in emergency situations and with patients being transferred within the hospital.”

The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation is the official fundraising arm of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Alberta Health Services for Southeastern Alberta. The Health Foundation is a 100% local, registered, non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to making a difference in healthcare.
