Teeing Off Fore Men’s Health Golf Tournament

Medicine Hat, AB – On Tuesday, September 15th, the first annual Teeing Off Fore Men’s Health
golf tournament raised $15,000 for The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation men’s
health initiatives. This included a generous $2,500 donation from the Yuill Family Foundation.
The tournament holds significant meaning to the organizers and attendees this year, as they
are carrying forward the vision of the late Bob Will. Bob had been involved in the
tournament’s earlier iteration “Plaid for Dad”. He had a vision to create a new event that
would keep the money raised locally in order to directly benefit men’s health in Medicine Hat.
He decided to partner with the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation last year, shortly
before he was diagnosed with cancer.

The Pants Off Fore Men’s Health Tournament is the first fundraising event since Bob passed
away from his illness last year. Ryan Kingsley, chair of the organizing committee, reflects on
Bob’s vision, “Bob was trying to give back to the community he’d grown up in, in a way that
people could get together and enjoy themselves, and support the community without even
feeling like it… I wanted to see his ideas into fruition.”

“It’s amazing to see men and women come together for a day of fun and talk about men’s
health at a time when we really need to be discussing that topic. Men’s mental health
especially needs to be talked about. Today [the participants] felt like they were coming
together for Bob. They are honouring his memory by honouring his dream and his vision: have
a great time golfing while making an impact on men’s health care in Medicine Hat.” Heather
Bach, Executive Director, Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation.

A day of golf was followed by a silent auction and dinner at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country
Club.

All proceeds raised will go to the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation. The Medicine
Hat & District Health Foundation is the official fundraising arm of the Medicine Hat Regional
Hospital and Alberta Health Services for Southeastern Alberta. The Health Foundation is a
100% local, registered, non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to making a
difference in healthcare.
